Tutina faces waste crisis as landfill blockade continues

In Tutina, Serbia, massive piles of accumulated waste have been documented near the Vidrenjak river. Local resident Sead Sadiković reported that the site, intended to be a transfer station, has become a massive landfill with waste piles reaching several meters in height and stretching dozens of meters.

The waste crisis in the region is linked to a long-standing blockade of the Golo brdo landfill, which has been inoperable for nearly a year. JKSP ‘Gradac’ previously declared an emergency situation regarding waste disposal due to this blockade, noting that the Golo brdo site is the only authorized location for municipal waste in the municipality. Local authorities from Novi Pazar and Tutina have previously sought state assistance to resolve the ongoing disposal issues.
