Tutoring prices in Poland reach record highs

Tutoring costs in Poland are reaching record highs, with the median price now exceeding 70 PLN per hour. According to a report by the Tutoring Price Observatory, based on nearly 9,600 active advertisements on the Twojekorepetycje.pl platform, prices vary significantly depending on the city, subject, and mode of instruction.

Some parents report significant financial strain, with monthly expenses for a single student's lessons in subjects like mathematics and English exceeding 1,500 PLN. In some cases, families are reportedly taking out loans to cover these educational costs.

Legal experts note that tutoring is classified as a contract of due diligence under the Polish Civil Code. This means that while a tutor cannot guarantee specific academic results, they are legally obligated to perform the service with professional care. If a tutor spends a significant portion of a paid session searching for basic information online rather than teaching, it may be considered improper performance of the contract, potentially allowing students to seek refunds or price reductions.
