Tuukka Taponen to join ART Grand Prix in Formula 2 for 2027

Finnish racing driver Tuukka Taponen will move up to the FIA Formula 2 championship for the 2027 season. He will rejoin the French team ART Grand Prix, the same organization he raced for during the 2025 Formula 3 season.

Taponen’s promotion follows a strong performance in Formula 3, where he secured his maiden feature race win in Madrid and finished third in the championship standings. His move to Formula 2 represents a significant step in his career goal of reaching Formula 1, as the series serves as the final major stepping stone before the premier class.

ART Grand Prix team principal Sebastien Philippe welcomed Taponen back, noting that their existing relationship provides a solid foundation for his transition to the new category. Taponen expressed confidence in the team and noted that upcoming regulatory and car changes in Formula 2 may help level the playing field for all competitors.
