Tuusula police investigation into delayed ambulance response

An investigation is underway regarding the police response following a moped accident during a gathering in Tuusula, Finland. Regional Prosecutor Heli Haapalehto reported that an ambulance was requested approximately one hour after the incident occurred on Saturday evening.

The ambulance was not dispatched directly to the scene of the accident but to a nearby intersection, where police transported the handcuffed moped rider. While initial police reports suggested the rider sustained only minor injuries, the individual later reported more severe trauma, including a broken metatarsal and five broken bones in the hand, requiring surgery.

Criminal Commissioner Juha Åkerman of the Helsinki Police stated that the initial assessment of minor injuries was based on preliminary information from officers on the scene. The reason why the ambulance was not called directly to the accident site remains under investigation.
