Tuvalu and Malawi launch leadership training for public officials

Government agencies in Tuvalu and Malawi are implementing leadership development programs to enhance the capacity of senior public service officials.

In Tuvalu, the Public Service Commission, in collaboration with New Zealand’s Public Service Fale, organized a forum for senior executives. The program focused on communication, staff coaching, adaptability, and team leadership. Aoga Kofe, Chairwoman of the Tuvalu Public Service Commission, emphasized the need for adaptive and visionary leadership that respects local values and traditions to navigate an evolving public service landscape.

In Malawi, the Malawi School of Government is facilitating an induction program for directors and deputy directors within the Accountant General’s Department. The training aims to improve management, administration, and decision-making skills. Ministry of Finance officials noted that strengthening leadership is critical for maintaining quality service delivery and ensuring prudent resource management amid budget constraints and the need to prevent corruption.
