Tuvalu footballer Jason Alama to train with VVV-Venlo

Jason Alama, a 23-year-old footballer from Tuvalu, will travel to the Netherlands for a two-week training internship with the professional Dutch club VVV-Venlo. Arriving on October 29, Alama will train with the club’s U-23 group.

The opportunity was arranged by Michiel van der Werf, the General Secretary and Technical Director of the Tuvalu Islands Football Association (TIFA). Alama, who has earned three international caps for Tuvalu during the 2023 Pacific Games, has primarily played in New Zealand’s domestic leagues, most recently with Western Springs AFC.

Alama expressed excitement regarding the high-intensity professional environment, noting the significance of representing his nation on a European stage.
