Tuxpan taxi drivers block bridge to protest vehicle seizures
Taxi drivers in Tuxpan, Veracruz, blocked access to the Tuxpan bridge and the La V exit on the Tuxpan-Tampico highway on Thursday. The protest was triggered by a government operation involving the seizure of several vehicles.
According to reports, authorities from the Public Transport department seized at least seven taxi units, allegedly for operating without the required legal documentation and license plates. The drivers are demanding the release of these vehicles, noting that the costs required to recover them are prohibitively high.
The blockade caused significant traffic disruptions, forcing some citizens to travel on foot during rain. Local transit officers and Naval Police were present at the scene to maintain order. While various transport workers joined the demonstration in support of the taxi drivers, municipal and state authorities have not yet issued an official response regarding the demands or the release of the seized units.
