Tuya Smart unveils Doova AI companion robot for seniors

Tuya Smart has unveiled Doova, an AI-powered home companion robot specifically designed to support seniors living independently. The announcement was made at IFA 2026 in Berlin.

Doova utilizes LDS LiDAR, a four-microphone sound source localization system, and AI vision-based skeletal recognition to monitor safety. In the event of a fall or emergency, the robot can respond to voice commands such as “Hey Tuya, help.” If the user does not respond within 60 seconds, the device initiates an emergency workflow by sending a two-way live video call alert to family members.

Beyond safety, the robot features a multimodal large language model to provide emotional companionship through natural conversation. It is also designed to assist with daily tasks, such as interpreting bills, identifying potential scams, guiding users through smart appliance operation, and providing medication or schedule reminders.
