Tuyen Quang high school exam scores spark irregularity concerns

An analysis of the 2026 national high‑school graduation exam at Tuyên Quang Specialized High School shows that 56.06% of the 328 students in a key data set scored 8 points or higher in English, far above the national average score of 5.07. The province’s average English score of 5.397 is the second‑highest in Vietnam, trailing only Hanoi.

The examined data set (identification numbers 080163xx‑080166xx), covering 198 students (60% of that group and 9.88% of the province’s 2,005 English examinees), reveals a sharp rise in high‑scoring candidates: the number of students achieving 8 points or more more than doubled from 105 in 2025 to 215 in 2026, even as the total number of English examinees fell by over 400. Critics argue that the concentration of top scores – for example, 38 of the province’s 60 students scoring 9 points came from this data set – raises doubts about the authenticity of the results.
