Tuzla Canton approves 5,500-hectare autumn sowing plan

The Government of Tuzla Canton has approved the autumn sowing plan for 2026, which targets a total of 5,507.5 hectares of agricultural land. This represents a 3.34 percent increase, or 178.5 hectares, compared to the previous year.

Cereals will account for nearly 72 percent of the planned area, covering 3,955.5 hectares. Wheat remains the most prominent crop, with 2,321 hectares scheduled for sowing, an increase of 128 hectares over last year. Other planned crops include vegetable, industrial, and fodder cultures.

Geographically, Kalesija leads with 924 hectares (16.77 percent of the total), followed by Tuzla with 831 hectares, and Gradačac with 828 hectares. Other significant areas include Gračanica, Lukavac, Živinice, and Čelić.

The estimated cost for implementing this plan is approximately 8.8 million KM, an 11 percent increase from last year. This rise is primarily attributed to the increasing prices of fuel and essential agricultural supplies such as seeds, fertilizers, and plant protection products. Successful execution depends on the timely distribution of financial support to farmers and the availability of high-quality materials.
