Tuzla Canton approves increased healthcare budget and diagnostic improvements
The Tuzla Canton Government has adopted several key decisions, most notably the 2027 financial plan for the Health Insurance Institute of Tuzla Canton. The plan allocates 440.4 million KM, an increase of 5.8 million KM compared to the 2026 plan. A significant portion of this budget is dedicated to healthcare, including 10.2 million KM for hospital and outpatient diagnostics such as CT, MRI, mammography, and PAPA tests. Additionally, funding for ABA therapy co-financing will double to 200,000 KM.
Regarding healthcare efficiency, the Health Insurance Institute has reported improved accessibility for expensive diagnostic services through digitalized information systems. Waiting times for MRI and CT scans have been reduced to an average of 7 to 20 days, while ophthalmological diagnostic examinations average between 12 and 21 days.
Other government decisions include approving an annex to a subsidy agreement with Wizz Air Hungary Ltd for air traffic, and allocating 70,000 KM to the municipality of Teočak for the renovation of the Central Martyr's Cemetery. The government also reviewed a report on juvenile delinquency prevention, noting a decrease in recorded offenses from the previous year.
