Tuzla Canton approves recruitment of 300 new police officers

The Government of Tuzla Canton has approved the recruitment of 300 new police officers to strengthen the operational capacity of the Tuzla Canton Police Administration. This decision aims to maintain public safety and ensure a timely response to security challenges as a significant number of existing officers approach retirement.

Officials noted that filling vacancies has struggled to keep pace with retirements due to lengthy recruitment and training procedures, as well as limited capacity at the Police Academy. This initiative follows previous efforts to bolster personnel, including the recruitment of 200 officers in 2025 and the deployment of a new generation of officers during 2026.

The new recruits will be hired for indefinite periods in the initial rank of police officer. While the recruitment and training processes will take time before the new officers are active on the streets, the move is intended to mitigate staffing shortages and ensure continuity in law enforcement operations.
