Tuzla Canton approves social assistance and pensioner aid

The Government of Tuzla Canton has approved several social support programs aimed at vulnerable populations. For 2026, 400,000 KM has been allocated to prevent social exclusion and develop social services. This funding will be distributed in 80,000 KM increments to organizations providing food, hygiene, and heating assistance to impoverished families, as well as rehabilitation and habilitation programs for children and youth with disabilities.

The program also includes support for families facing crises, such as domestic violence or child-rearing issues, through counseling and safe house services. Additionally, resources are designated to improve the quality of life for the elderly through home care and other non-institutional services.

Separately, pensioners in Tuzla Canton will receive a one-time payment of 100 KM. Approximately 3.9 million KM has been secured through a joint effort by the Tuzla Canton Government and the Federal Pension and Disability Insurance Institute. This assistance targets 39,043 beneficiaries, covering nearly 50% of the region's pensioners, specifically those with the lowest incomes or those receiving proportional pensions.
