Tuzla Canton proposes personal assistance benefits for war disabled veterans

The Government of Tuzla Canton has proposed amendments to the Law on Additional Rights of Defenders and Their Family Members. The proposal introduces a new right to personal assistance for war disabled veterans with the highest degree of disability to support daily activities and independent living.

Eligible recipients include war disabled veterans with a 100 percent disability rating in Group I who are entitled to care and assistance allowances of the first or second degree. The proposal suggests a monthly compensation of 400 KM for first-degree allowance recipients and 300 KM for second-degree recipients. Implementation is proposed to begin on January 1, 2027, with an estimated annual fiscal requirement of 495,000 KM for 2027 and 2028.

The initiative follows requests from the Alliance of War Disabled Paraplegics of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and local disabled veterans' associations. Additionally, the government approved a transfer of 130,000 KM to social work centers across the canton for capital expenditures.
