Tuzla marks 83rd anniversary of WWII liberation

Tuzla is marking the 83rd anniversary of its liberation from occupying forces during World War II. The historical event, which occurred on October 2, 1943, saw Partisan units liberate the city, making it a significant political and military center for the National Liberation Movement in eastern Bosnia.

Commemorations include a ceremony at Slana Banja where delegations and citizens will lay flowers at monuments to honor freedom fighters. The program also features a formal session of the Tuzla City Council at the National Theater.

Cultural and sporting events are scheduled for the evening at Freedom Square, including a concert by singer Hanka Paldum and a public viewing of the UEFA Nations League match between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sweden. The football match carries emotional weight as it marks the farewell of Edin Džeko from the national team.
