Tuzla opens CIVICA Center for democracy and social innovation
The CIVICA Center for Democracy and Social Innovation has officially opened in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The facility is intended to serve as a hub for civil society organizations, activists, and citizens working toward democratic development and social connectivity in the Tuzla Canton.
Spanning 746 square meters across four floors and a basement, the center includes two meeting rooms, two multimedia rooms, office spaces, and coworking areas. The project was developed as a social-entrepreneurial venture designed for long-term self-sustainability.
The center was established through a partnership between the Tuzla Community Foundation, the City of Tuzla, and the German-based Freudenberg Foundation. Construction was co-financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the project ‘Strengthening Democratic Culture and the Civil Sector in TK’, alongside contributions from the City of Tuzla and donors via the ‘Returning to the Community’ campaign.
