Tuzla taxi drivers schedule peaceful protest on July 31
The Tuzla Taxi Association announced a peaceful protest and a protest ride for Friday, 31 July 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Participants will gather at the parking area above the Commemorative Centre and then travel through a route that includes Kojsino Street, Kulina Bana, 2nd Tuzla Brigade Street, Marshal Tito, ZAVNOBiH, and other main thoroughfares.
The protest aims to protect the rights of taxi operators, ensure compliance with the law and obtain a fair regulatory framework for the taxi sector in Tuzla. Drivers cite rising operating costs – fuel prices have more than doubled since 2016, taxes and vehicle‑maintenance expenses have risen by over 60 %, while fares have increased by only 1 KM per ride. They demand an end to new taxi licence issuance, the ability to transfer licences, adoption of a “2‑for‑1” regulation model, a transparent database of licences, revision of existing taxi stands and a subsidy scheme for operators.
The association appealed to the City of Tuzla and the Tuzla Canton Government to stop shifting responsibility and to work together on concrete solutions, emphasizing that the protest is not directed against citizens but seeks to preserve the livelihood of hundreds of families that depend on taxi services.
