Tuzluca Salt Caves to implement video mapping for tourism
The Tuzluca Salt Caves in Iğdır, Turkey, are set to undergo a technological transformation through the ‘Tuzluca Salt Caves Promotion and Branding Project’. The initiative aims to boost the region's tourism potential by integrating modern technology with its natural heritage.
Under the auspices of Iğdır Governor M. Fırat Taşolar and with the support of Iğdır Deputy Cantürk Alagöz, a contract has been signed between the Serhat Development Agency (SERKA) and the Tuzluca District Governorate Villages Service Union. The project will utilize video mapping and spatial augmented reality to turn the cave walls into dynamic narrative screens. This approach allows for the presentation of visual and auditory content regarding the caves' geological formation, history, and cultural values without damaging the natural structure.
The project intends to establish the caves as a unique tourism destination and a strong brand. By providing an interactive experience, officials expect to increase visitor satisfaction and the duration of stays, ultimately driving higher tourist numbers to the Tuzluca district. Following completion, the management and promotion of the caves will be handled by Kaya Tuzu Gıda Turizm San. A. Ş., a subsidiary of the Tuzluca District Governorate Villages Service Union.
