TV 2 faces backlash over Rasmus Wallbridge prank series
The Danish broadcaster TV 2 is facing intense criticism following the withdrawal of its program ‘Alle elsker Rasmus’. The series involved a four-month prank where comedian Rasmus Wallbridge was led to believe he was producing a horror film, only for it to be revealed as a staged production involving 149 people.
Critics, including prominent figures like comedian Torben Chris and Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, have condemned the show for its ethical failings. The program has been described by some as psychological torture and gaslighting. TV 2 has acknowledged significant errors, with content director Ulla Pors stating the series should never have been produced.
In response to the scandal, TV 2 has launched an investigation into its production and ethical decision-making. The broadcaster has also enlisted external help from former DR editor Jesper Termansen to assist in the probe. Meanwhile, TV chef Hannah Grant has announced a hiatus from ‘Go’ morgen Danmark’, citing concerns over the broadcaster’s moral and ethical compass.
