TV Asahi broadcasts special on Japanese traditions and luxury estates
TV Asahi is broadcasting a two-hour special titled ‘Platinum Family & Tuesday no Ryojun Kotaro’ on September 1. The program features explorations of long-standing Japanese traditions and luxury lifestyles.
In one segment, Kotaro Koizumi visits Ichimonjiya Wasuke, a restaurant near Kyoto’s Imamiya Shrine that has been in operation for over 1,000 years. The segment highlights the family’s tradition of making ‘aburi mochi,’ a specialty dish passed down through generations. The current 25th-generation proprietress discusses the family’s spirit of service and their approach to succession.
Another segment revisits the Kamakura mansion of renowned flower artist Shogo Karyazaki. The episode showcases the newly completed garden, featuring 50 varieties of roses, and an open kitchen filled with orchids. The special also includes a tea party with international musicians Yuko Mizutaniyagawa and Eriko Sumi, concluding with a musical performance of ‘Ave Maria’.
Additionally, the program explores the history of Tokyo Tower and its location, formerly known as Momijiyama.
