TV Asahi drama ‘Ani Imouto’ to premiere in October

The new TV Asahi Saturday 10 PM drama, ‘Ani Imouto’, is set to begin broadcasting in October. Described as a forbidden love-suspense series, the story follows the intersecting fates of two sets of siblings.

The plot features Nao Haruki (played by Nana Eikura), an internal medicine physician at Shiomizaki Municipal Hospital, and Shuji Sonoda (played by Eiji Akaso), a shipyard worker supporting his sister Eri, who is battling a rare cancer. As Nao and Shuji connect through Eri’s treatment, the narrative explores themes of medical costs, family secrets, and past traumas.

Actress Yuno Ohara, who plays medical clerk Rika Tanaka, discussed her role in an interview, noting the importance of portraying a character who acts decisively for the sake of others. The series is expected to transition from a regional setting in Shiomizaki to a Tokyo-based arc.
