TV Barrandov faces liquidation as owner Jaromír Soukup loses office access

TV Barrandov is undergoing insolvency proceedings as its former owner, Jaromír Soukup, faces mounting financial difficulties. The company has ceased operations, dismissed all staff, and is currently in a liquidation phase. The insolvency administrator has identified intangible assets, including trademarks, web domains, and archives of popular programs featuring hosts such as Aleš Cibulka and Jan Rosák, as the most valuable assets for sale.

Simultaneously, Prague City Hall has blocked Jaromír Soukup from accessing the Braník complex, which houses his offices and residence. The building was purchased by the city for 650 million CZK following a foreclosure sale. Soukup reportedly owes approximately 940,000 CZK in unpaid debts. Despite an agreement to settle the debt to negotiate a formal lease, the payment deadline passed in late August without resolution.

Additionally, the Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting has initiated proceedings to revoke the licenses for Kino Barrandov and Krimi Barrandov due to the bankruptcy. Interest in these licenses has already been expressed by the Česká Radiokomunikace group.
