TV Emsdetten to face ThSV Eisenach in DHB-Pokal matchup
TV Emsdetten is set to face ThSV Eisenach in the second round of the DHB-Pokal on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. The match features a significant divisional gap, as the second-division side TV Emsdetten, currently ninth in their league, takes on the first-division ThSV Eisenach, who sits fourteenth in the Handball-Bundesliga.
Niclas Heitkamp, a 23-year-old back player who previously played for ThSV Eisenach for six months, expressed confidence in his current team. He stated that the team aims to win every game and views cup matches as special opportunities with nothing to lose. TV Emsdetten enters the match following a recent 37:34 away victory against VfL Eintracht Hagen, where Heitkamp, Yannick Terhaer, and Bjarne Budelmann each scored seven goals.
Despite the underdog status of TV Emsdetten, ThSV Eisenach remains the clear favorite to secure a spot in the round of sixteen and is expected to travel with its strongest squad.
