TV Globo enforces strict secrecy for ‘Avenida Brasil 2’ production

TV Globo has implemented strict confidentiality protocols to prevent leaks regarding the production of ‘Avenida Brasil 2’, the sequel to its highly successful 2012 telenovela. The broadcaster has reportedly threatened to dismiss staff members if production details, such as cast information, sets, or plot points, are disclosed prematurely.

The sequel, written by João Emanuel Carneiro and scheduled to premiere in the 9 p.m. timeslot in 2027, is a major strategic priority for the network. Measures include prohibiting photography during pre-production, limiting social media activity, and instructing actors not to confirm details before the official presentation to advertisers, which is expected in October.

Key production staff includes Ricardo Waddington as artistic director and Henrique Sauer as general director. Confirmed returning cast members include Adriana Esteves, Murilo Benício, Débora Falabella, Cauã Reymond, Marcos Caruso, Eliane Giardini, Letícia Isnard, and Juliano Cazarré. New cast members such as Mel Maia and Drico Alves are also set to join the production.
