TV Globo to air two football-themed telenovelas in 2027

TV Globo is preparing to release two new telenovelas in the first quarter of 2027 that share football as a central theme: ‘Avenida Brasil 2’ and ‘Dias de Glória’. While the overlap in subject matter is notable, the productions offer different narratives.

‘Avenida Brasil 2’ is a continuation of the highly successful original series written by João Emanuel Carneiro. The production is currently undergoing directorial changes following the departure of Lucas Villamarim, who has left the project to direct the GloboPlay series ‘A Doutrina’. Despite this change, the directing team still includes Henrique Sauer, André Barros, Mayara Aguiar, and Isabella Teixeira, while the writing team remains largely consistent with Carneiro’s recent collaborators.
