TV host Pedro Sola apologizes amid animal‑rights backlash

Television host Pedro Sola, a long‑time presenter of the Mexican program Ventaneando, issued a public apology for remarks he made about pet‑friendly spaces that were criticised as disrespectful to animal welfare. In the July 21 broadcast he said he will continue to educate himself on animal well‑being and invited animal‑protection groups to collaborate with the show.

Later that day the comedy podcast La Cotorrisa attacked Sola, calling him a “psychopath” and condemning his comments, while also criticizing Ventaneando’s decline. The hosts argued that public figures who downplay animal protection face strong social backlash. Sola has responded by joining activities with the rescue foundation Yaakunah, but reactions on social media remain divided.
