Telewizja Republika launches fundraiser for license fees
Telewizja Republika has launched a new fundraising campaign to cover its broadcasting license fees. Unlike previous collections, the station has not specified the exact target amount, though promotional graphics on screen indicate the funds are intended for the license payment.
The station faces significant financial obligations to the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT). Reports indicate that a payment of approximately 2.04 million PLN, which includes a license installment and a prolongation fee, was due by September 1. KRRiT's Budget and Finance Department confirmed that the payment from the station, led by President Tomasz Sakiewicz, had not been received.
Failure to settle the debt could result in a formal demand for payment. If the station fails to pay after receiving such notices, the Council may initiate debt enforcement proceedings, which could lead to the blocking of Telewizja Republika's accounts. KRRiT members have denied allegations of targeting the station, stating that all broadcasters are treated equally regarding licensing requirements.
