TÜV SÜD product expert Benedikt Trübenbacher has provided guidance on selecting appropriate via ferrata sets to ensure safety during mountain climbing. As personal protective equipment, these sets are designed to maintain a connection to the steel cable and reduce the forces exerted on the body during a fall.

A standard via ferrata set consists of two safety arms with carabiners and a energy absorber. The energy absorber is the central component, intended to absorb energy and reduce the impact force during a fall.
