Hungarian TV2 plans revival of popular ‘Aktív’ magazine show
TV2 Group has recently filed trademark protection for the name and logo of its former magazine program “Aktív”, a move interpreted as preparation for a comeback after almost a decade off the air. The show, which debuted in January 2002 and ended its original run on 31 December 2016, could replace the evening magazine “Tények Plusz” when that programme is scheduled to end in August.
The revival is part of a wider overhaul of TV2’s news and infotainment lineup. The broadcaster has also trademarked the brand names “TV2 Híradó” and “TV2 Hírek”. TV2 president and CEO Vaszily Miklós linked the changes to challenges faced by the “Tények” brand. While former presenters such as Bartal Csaba, Gombos Edina and Szebeni István defined the original series, the network has floated possible new hosts including Zita Szedmák, Fanni Farkas, Péter Pachmann and Tamás Gajdos.
