TV3 journalist Joan Carles Peris retires after 43 years

Journalist Joan Carles Peris has retired from TV3 after 43 years of service. During a farewell gathering at the newsroom, colleagues honored his career, which included roles in politics, international news, and various correspondent positions in Madrid and Paris. Peris stated his departure is intended to allow for generational renewal and more personal time, though he will remain linked to the program ‘Mirada Global’ for six months. He emphasized the importance of rigorous journalism and the defense of the Catalan language.

In related media news, TV3 continues to dominate television audiences in Catalonia. On October 19, 2026, the broadcaster secured eight of the ten most-watched programs in the region. The ‘Telenotícies vespre’ news program led with 593,000 viewers and a 29.8% share. While TV3 maintains a strong lead in Catalonia with a 16.9% daily share, Antena 3 remains a primary reference across Spain, particularly in the national entertainment and news rankings.
