TVB producer addresses controversy over City of Splendour scenes

Producer Chan Wai-kwun has addressed recent controversies surrounding the TVB drama ‘City of Splendour’. The production has faced scrutiny following reports of intense scenes involving actresses Rosita Kwok and Gigi Yip, including complaints to the Communications Authority regarding content maturity.

Addressing rumors regarding Gigi Yip, Chan denied allegations that a director circulated unreleased footage of her performance. He emphasized the professionalism of the production team and stated that strict safety measures were in place during filming.

Regarding Rosita Kwok, Chan clarified that while the actress initially expressed hesitation due to the technical complexity of a long-take sequence, the scene's intensity was consistent with the original script. He denied that the production team pressured her into performing, noting that the decision to use a single-take method was intended to enhance dramatic impact rather than to increase nudity. Chan stated that the final decision on whether to broadcast the controversial scenes rests with the company.
