TVK files complaints against M. K. Stalin over remarks on candidate
The women’s wing of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has filed police complaints against DMK President M. K. Stalin, alleging he made derogatory and insulting remarks about TVK candidate P. Sathyabama. The complaints were lodged at five police stations in Tiruchirappalli, including Srirangam and Thillai Nagar, following campaign speeches during the Dharapuram by-election.
TVK chief Vijay criticized Stalin’s comments as ‘uncivilised’ and a ‘mockery,’ stating that the remarks were intended to ridicule Sathyabama’s name and appearance. The complaints allege that Stalin used offensive language to demean a female candidate. In response to the allegations, Community Service Register (CSR) receipts were issued by the respective police stations. Additionally, a group of lawyers has approached the Election Commission and police authorities seeking action, arguing that women candidates should not be subjected to personal insults during election campaigns.
