TVR host faces controversy over luxury car appearance during live broadcast

A controversy has emerged at the Romanian public broadcaster TVR following a live broadcast of the show ‘Poarta Pangrati’. During the program, host Marina Almășan commented on a luxury Porsche arriving at the studio. The vehicle was driven by Tudor Bota, an employee of TVR, who was transporting his mother, former news anchor Cristiana Bota, to the event to receive an anniversary award.

Following the broadcast, the incident drew criticism from Sorina Matei, the interim general director of TVR. Matei highlighted the perceived contrast between the appearance of a luxury vehicle and the financial difficulties facing the public broadcaster, noting that staff are working under significant financial restrictions.

In response to the backlash, Marina Almășan issued a statement on social media to defend Tudor Bota, expressing her apologies and suggesting the situation had been misinterpreted. She clarified that the moment was intended to acknowledge the arrival of the guest and her son.
