TÜVTÜRK implements safety measures against natural disasters

TÜVTÜRK has launched a comprehensive safety project to increase the resilience of its stations against natural disaster risks. In collaboration with academics from the Geology Department of Karadeniz Technical University, the company conducted risk analyses for 219 vehicle inspection stations across Turkey.

The study identified specific threats such as landslides, rock and stone falls, and flash floods. Based on these findings, customized preventive security and improvement projects were developed for various locations.

In the first phase, interventions were implemented in Giresun Görele, Giresun Merkez, Bodrum, Bitlis, Artvin, and Tunceli, with Bilecik Merkez and Ordu Merkez subsequently included. Specific measures include:

• Bitlis Merkez: Construction of a 140-meter retaining wall and 484 square meters of steel netting to mitigate rockfall and flood risks. • Tunceli Merkez: Installation of a 67-meter retaining wall and slope stabilization. • Giresun Görele: Construction of a 62-meter stone wall to prevent rock movement. • Giresun Merkez: Application of steel netting and anchoring to rock surfaces. • Bodrum: Installation of 1,800 square meters of steel netting and 100 meters of passive rock barriers to protect the parking area.
