Twan Smits promoted to WorldSBK with Moto X Racing

Dutch racer Twan Smits is making an immediate move to the FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK). The 22-year-old will compete for the Moto X Racing team for the remainder of the 2026 season.

Smits enters the championship following a highly successful period in the German national championship, where he secured pole positions and won all races during the last two race weekends. His progression is a product of Yamaha’s bLU cRU program, having moved through the Dutch R3 Cup and various Supersport classes.

Smits is scheduled to make his debut on the Yamaha YZF-R1 at the upcoming race weekend in Cremona. Following an initial test with the machine, Smits noted the significant difference in braking and electronic capabilities compared to his previous bikes. His stated goal for the season is to secure his first championship points.
