Twelve Apostles to require visitor bookings and fees
Starting 16 October 2026, all visitors to the Twelve Apostles precinct on Australia’s Great Ocean Road will be required to make a booking. While bookings are currently free, a fee will be introduced in April 2027. All revenue generated from these fees will be reinvested into coastal protection, conservation, and visitor experience improvements throughout the Great Ocean Road region.
The new booking system coincides with the opening of the $126 million Keerray Woorroong Visitor Centre. This 3,300-square-metre facility was developed in consultation with the Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation and includes a 230-seat cafe, exhibition spaces, and the Great Ocean Lookout rooftop garden. The centre aims to provide immersive digital experiences and cultural perspectives regarding the region's geological and environmental history.
The visitor centre project was funded through a partnership involving the Australian Government, the Victorian Government, and the City of Greater Geelong. While walk-up bookings may be available at the entrance gate, officials warn that entry may be delayed if parking reaches capacity, making advance reservations highly recommended.
