Twente defender Rod Naistad attracts interest from Barcelona and Premier League clubs

Eight football clubs are competing for the signature of 18-year-old FC Twente defender Rod Naistad. Barcelona, which previously made an €8 million offer during the summer, faces new competition from several Premier League sides, including Manchester United, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Brentford, Everton, and Sunderland.

Naistad is a highly regarded left-footed center-back standing approximately 1.95m tall. He is noted for his physical strength and ability to assist in building attacks from the defensive line. Having already made 38 appearances for Twente's first team, including appearances in European competition, he is viewed as a significant long-term prospect.

Despite the intense interest, FC Twente is under no immediate pressure to sell. The player is under contract until June 2029, and the club reportedly does not intend to consider a transfer during the January window. Twente anticipates that interest may intensify in 2027, allowing them more time to develop the player within their squad.
