Twin Cities Drug Trafficking Ring Results in Sentences for Two Defendants
Shannon Marie Weisbrod, a 48‑year‑old from Chatfield, Minnesota, was sentenced to 125 months in prison after pleading guilty to first‑degree drug possession. Police discovered more than 116 grams of methamphetamine and two digital scales during a traffic stop linked to an ongoing investigation of drug trafficking in the Twin Cities. Other charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
Richar Mujica received a 144‑month federal prison term followed by five years of supervised release for his role in a drug‑trafficking and kidnapping operation that moved large quantities of methamphetamine from Mexico to the Twin Cities between July 2023 and January 2025. The investigation uncovered a kidnapping scheme in St. Paul, where a man was photographed injured and handcuffed in a basement. Mujica was one of eleven individuals charged in the case, which involved breaking down seized meth into smaller quantities for local sale.
