TwinMed project aims to advance medical technology through digital twins

The TwinMed project, a concept developed at Jagiellonian University, seeks to create a distributed infrastructure for digital twins to assist in the development of drugs and medical technologies. These digital twins consist of computer models of proteins, organs, and patients.

TwinMed aims to provide a shared foundation for scientists and companies by offering advanced computing power, software, and tools for secure medical data processing. Rather than a single computing center, it is designed as a distributed network connecting data, equipment, and expertise across multiple institutions to enable complex research.

The consortium is led by the Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology at Jagiellonian University, with participation from ACK Cyfronet AGH, the Wrocław Computing Centre of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, and the Sano International Research Foundation. The project involves expanding computing centers and establishing local nodes at facilities where medical data is generated or prepared for analysis.
