Twisha Sharma death case: CBI probes evidence handling and legal‑aid lawyer conduct

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its probe into the June 2026 death of former model and actress Twisha Sharma in Bhopal. Investigators are re‑examining delays in recovering key evidence such as the alleged ligature, mobile phone and laptop, and are questioning police officials over the timing and manner of evidence collection. Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh and mother‑in‑law Giribala Singh remain in judicial custody and are accused of dowry‑related homicide and possible destruction of evidence.

Separately, Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, filed a complaint in the Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking an inquiry into the role of legal‑aid lawyers who, he alleges, favoured the accused during the anticipatory bail hearing. The complaint names an assistant advocate and the chief legal‑aid counsel, citing a photograph of the lawyer at the accused’s wedding and claims of undue involvement. The CBI is scheduled to appear before the court on June 16 to request an extension of custody or police remand for further questioning.
