Twisha Sharma death: CBI takes husband into custody, intensifies probe

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the investigation into the death of former actress‑model Twisha Sharma in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. A CBI team visited the in‑laws’ residence where Sharma was found hanging on a rope on 12 May, inspected the premises and collected evidence. The agency filed a fresh FIR against her husband, Support Singh, and his mother, former judge Giribala Singh, after taking over from the state special inquiry team.

Support Singh was placed in CBI custody until 29 May, with the agency examining his location records, digital data and financial transactions. The case centers on allegations by Sharma’s family of dowry‑related harassment and mental torture by the husband and his family. Both the CBI and the Madhya Pradesh police are probing these claims as the investigation accelerates.

The high‑profile case has drawn nationwide attention and public calls for swift justice.
