Twitch releases 2026 State of Gaming report

Twitch has released its inaugural ‘State of Gaming 2026’ report, detailing viewership trends from January 1 to September 1, 2026. During this period, users watched over 8.6 billion hours of gaming content on the platform.

Global viewership was led by ‘League of Legends’, followed by ‘Counter-Strike’, ‘GTA V’, ‘VALORANT’, and ‘World of Warcraft’. These top five titles alone accounted for approximately 1.7 billion hours of watch time. The report also highlighted a significant rise in indie gaming, with viewership for channels tagged with indie content increasing by 51% year-over-year, totaling over 348 million hours.

In Japan, ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ was the most-watched title, followed by ‘League of Legends’ and ‘VALORANT’. Notable Japanese streamers SHAKA and Laz were recognized as top global creators within their respective categories. Other notable trends included the success of the AI VTuber ‘Neuro-sama’ in the UK and a 46% increase in viewership for ‘Twitch Drops’ campaigns, which reached 40 million users.
