Two 109-year-old friends share secrets to longevity
Dorothy Boggess and Velma Long, both 109 years old, have maintained a friendship for over eight decades. The two women met in Washington during World War II while working for the U.S. administration.
Attributing their longevity to social connection, the pair emphasizes the importance of family, friendship, and community involvement. While they communicate almost daily by telephone, they also credit physical activity, healthy eating, humor, and travel for their well-being. Boggess remains active with morning exercises and dancing, while Long continues to travel and participate in family activities.
