Two anglers rescued near Swansea after vessel failure
Two anglers were rescued from a life-threatening situation near Moon Island, close to the entrance of the Swansea channel, on Saturday, October 24. The rescue was initiated after the pair's 5.1-metre runabout experienced a battery failure.
Conditions worsened when the vessel's anchor rope snapped in choppy waters, forcing the occupants to paddle away from rocks to avoid being blown onto a bommie. The skipper reported signs of fatigue before the rescue vessel Lake Macquarie 31 arrived. The crew secured the disabled vessel approximately 30 metres from the bombora and safely transported the individuals and their boat to the Pelican boat ramp.
