Two arrested after attempted car theft in Melissano

Two men, aged 35 and 37, have been arrested following an attempted car theft in Melissano. The incident occurred when residents noticed suspicious activity around a parked vehicle and alerted the authorities via the 112 emergency number.

Carabinieri units from Melissano and Ruffano intercepted the suspects during a brief pursuit toward Felline. Following orders from the Prosecutor of Lecce, both men were placed under house arrest. A 24-year-old woman was also charged in connection with the attempt. Additionally, the 35-year-old suspect was found to have violated a mandatory expulsion order from the Melissano municipality.
