Two arrested for stealing 134 kg of copper from railway tracks

Two individuals, aged 41 and 17, have been arrested by Mossos d'Esquadra for the theft of 134 kg of copper from railway tracks at the new Sant Raig station. The suspects were observed by a witness jumping a fence and collecting the metal in bags.

Officers intercepted the pair at a nearby recycling point as they were attempting to sell the stolen copper, which was valued at approximately 1,246 euros. One of the detainees, a minor, was already wanted for a previous robbery, while the older suspect has a history of similar offenses. The arrest is part of a strategic plan to increase surveillance on railway networks to prevent thefts that disrupt mobility.
