Two arrested in shooting death of Humphreys County football player

Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of Jakamryn Price, a 16-year-old football player for Humphreys County High School. Price, a junior defensive end and tight end for the Cowboys, was killed on August 21 on 3rd Street shortly after a football scrimmage concluded.

Belzoni police announced that Jayden Holmes was taken into custody on Wednesday. He is believed to have been involved in the gunfire that killed Price. The first suspect, Jaronski Watson, was arrested following a Tuesday traffic stop conducted by Belzoni officers and Humphreys County sheriff’s deputies, during which a weapon was discovered in his vehicle.

Law enforcement officials stated that they do not believe Price was the intended target of the shooting. The investigation remains active, and authorities indicated that more arrests could follow.
