Two athletes killed in fatal car accident in Quinta do Anjo

Two young athletes have died following a car accident in Quinta do Anjo, located in the Palmela municipality of the Setúbal district. The incident occurred during the early hours of Sunday on the Estrada de Vila Amélia when a light vehicle veered off the road.

The victims have been identified as Madalena Galego, a 20-year-old female football player for Grupo União Sport, and Gonçalo Pinto, a handball player associated with Grupo Musical e Desportivo União e Progresso. Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.

Local sports clubs and the Canaviais Parish Council have issued statements of mourning, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of the athletes and offering condolences to their families and communities.
