India returns two Bangladeshi police officers following border crossing

Two Bangladeshi police officers, Assistant Sub-Inspector Imran Hossain and Constable Rohit Dewan, have been returned to Bangladesh following an accidental border crossing into India.

The incident occurred on Thursday night near the Ashabari-Rahimpur border in Tripura’s Sepahijala district. While pursuing suspected smugglers in a drug raid, the officers reportedly crossed the border into Indian territory. Local villagers intercepted the officers before they were handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF).

Following a flag meeting between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the BSF on Friday, the two officers were officially handed back to Bangladeshi authorities. Officials described the handover process as peaceful. While some local reports alleged previous misconduct by the officers, official statements focused on the successful resolution of the border incident.
