Dutch fire services tackle a string of emergencies on July 26

On July 26, fire brigades across the Netherlands responded to several unrelated incidents. In Eemnes, firefighters rescued a pigeon trapped in a chimney. In Amersfoort, a short‑circuit caused a restaurant fire that was quickly brought under control. In Almere, police and emergency crews found an injured man beside his fat‑bike on a cycling path and performed on‑scene resuscitation before air‑lifting him to hospital. In Velp, the fire service removed a dead swan and several other deceased animals from the contaminated Biljoen pond, where botulism was suspected. In Delft, firefighters used a high‑reach vehicle to clear broken tree branches threatening two parked cars, one of which turned out to be a stolen Peugeot 308 later reclaimed by its owners.
